Porter Classic Vintage Work Pant

Japanese label Porter Classic have provided their distinctive vintage critique to another impressive piece with this cropped work pant. The outcome is reminiscent of French styling, with a combination of the jodhpur fitting and the cropped finish the most interesting part of the pant is the deconstructed combination of materials. Combining a corduroy base, the patchwork is applied through multiple layers of corduroy while the plaid lining and small detailing provides a nice finish.

Visual Permeability Pavilion

"The purpose of this pavilion is to provide multiple spaces for relaxation, contemplation, and social interaction. The two spaces within the project are broken apart, providing one space for two people to relax in a more private setting, and one space for four people to have a conversation or drink. The angling of the wooden slats was designed to maximize this separation for the private zone, and minimize it for the public zone; thus creating a gradient of visual permeability. The form was derived from one continuous strip that wraps around itself, while touching the ground in minimal locations. The density of the slats is based on three density types: The densest zones are designated for walking and sitting, the medium zones are designated as backrest locations, and the lightest zones are meant for shading. This pavilion will act as a beacon to entice a passerby to come over, sit, and relax"

Water Rose

I love photo manipulations but i love real, cleverly executed ideas even more. What's this, you say? A water rose. "To take this picture I made a basic 'rose' shape out of a plastic bottle, I taped it to a twig and then I placed them upside down to pour the water over it," says Fer Gregory.

"The shot is composed of several shots to make it look like there are petals..."

Take a look at these photos to see how it all came together. Ingenious!

American Apparel Commercial by Tony Kelly

On a makeshift dance floor set amongst a vast cityscape stand Jalen Testerman and Lil Demon, the world-renowned break dancers featured in Tony Kelly’s latest American Apparel commercial. The photographer has been the brainchild behind much of the brand’s imagery, this time shooting the American Apparel-clad youths in a humorous exhibition of wit and prowess.

Hedi Slimane Fashion Diary Update “Punk”

Hedi Slimane shares a new set of photos taken from a trip to New York. Hedi Slimane’s signature black and white style and composition crosses over with an element of punk which factors in as the focus of the whole shoot.

the many looks of steven tyler

I'm pretty sure that everyone can agree on how fascinating Steven Tylers style is, but not as fascinated as me. I am a huge fan of aerosmith & of course the infamous lead singer his self. His fashion is filled with liberation & overly expressive i truly adore that from his groovy bell-bottoms to his feather hair extensions. Below I've picked out my top favorites...what's yours?

Haversack Spring/Summer 2012

(Above: Haversack designer Koji Norihide)
Here’s a look at Haversack’s spring collection. Like pretty much every Haversack collection lately, it’s a great collection. To pardon the cliche, there’s something for everyone, plain navy blazers for the sprezzy and patterned shirts for the fashion folks. We caught up with Koji Norihide for a couple of quick questions about the brand, which you can see after the leap.

Describe your brand in one sentence
In one sentence is very difficult. It’s basically a traditional old brand but it’s been revamped for modern day, so we’re talking the military look, the semi-formal formal look, we’re talking the casual look. But it’s all integrated, it’s all co-ordinatable.
What do you think of Pitti?
Pitti Umomo itself is very good it’s very interesting. There’s a lot of people from different countries in one melting pot right now. You see a lot of things you wouldn’t normally see when you’re back in your own country.
Favorite piece from the collection and why?
Very difficult, they’re all my favourite. But I like the navy blazer. But it’s not a traditional navy blazer, you’ve got all the brass buttons, enamel buttons, you’ve got the lining interwoven with linen, to give a different n-dimensional look. It’s all interpretable with the rest of the collection. But it’s very difficult to say which one’s my favourite because they’re all my favourite, I’m greedy.
Tell us something interesting about yourself that has nothing to do with clothing.
(answered by Haversack man and our translator Ian Noore) Born in Scotland, raised in England, lived in Japan for 35 years.

Pitti | Monitaly Spring/Summer 2012

One thing is for certain at Pitti: some brands are working to separate their looks from the encapsulating reign of heritage by bringing forth patterns (sometimes splatters) against well cut and quality made garments. Monitaly brings things to new bolder grounds with a series of shorts and blazers that clearly force the wearer to stand out. While the looks may not be for all, at least the attempt is there to separate the brand from the crowd. Check the leatherworks on their shorts as well (in the gallery).

read your bookcase

Here’s one for that faux-reading friend you have. Italian cabinet company Saporiti have made this handsome bookcase which doubles up as a nice message. I'm not sure if this will be worth it if you actually read your books but it’ll be a great gift for anyone who likes to buy books just to say they have them. (via Fubiz)
